Paying for your Master of Science in
Nursing Degree
Tuition and fees are among the lowest in Pennsylvania
because the three universities are part of the Pennsylvania State System of
Higher Education. Generally, tuition and fees change from one year to the next.

It is our hope that no one is denied
the opportunity for preparation as a Nurse Practitioner or a Nurse Educator due
to financial need. In order to help you take advantage of available financial
assistance, we have included information below about aid specifically for Nurse
Practitioner and Nurse Educator students. For more information about Financial

Advanced Education Nursing
Traineeships
Traineeship funds help support full-time students for the two years they are in
the program and part-time students in the last 12 months of their program. The
Clarion, Edinboro and Slippery Rock Universities Master of Science in Nursing
Program has received funds to disperse to all eligible students in the past and
will apply for these funds yearly. The amount varies from year to year
depending on the amount of the federal award.
National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Scholarships:
The NHSC Scholarship Program is a competitive
federal program which awards scholarships to students pursing primary care health
professions training. The scholarship consists of payment of tuition, fee,
other reasonable educational costs and a monthly support stipend. In return,
the students agree to provide one year of service in the Health Professional
Shortage Area (HPSA) to which they are assigned for each year or partial year of
scholarship support received. There is a minimum two-year service commitment
and a maximum four-year commitment.
Pennsylvania Department of Health Primary Health
Care Practitioners Loan Repayment Program:
The Primary Health Care Practitioners Loan repayment Program is a program
designed to improve the recruitment and retention of primary health care
practitioners in underserved areas of Pennsylvania. A limited number of loan
repayment participation contracts will be signed with participants in return for
service in designated Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs), and targeted
to practitioners located at non-profit community-based primary care centers.
loan repayment benefits are to be used to repay qualifying health professional
educational loans, and are based on availability of State and Federal funding.
PHEAA Nursing Loan Forgiveness for Healthier
Futures:
The "Nursing Loan Forgiveness for Healthier Futures"
program is designed to help recruit and retain qualified nursing students in
Pennsylvania that will help you repay your student loans. By working for a
participating Pennsylvania health care organization, after graduation from an
approved nursing education program, you may receive student loan forgiveness for
up to 25 percent (a maximum of $12,500) of your eligible debt over a three-year
period.
